LEICESTER

The city is famous for its diversity and as a result there are dozens of festivals that run throughout the year.
History

Built over the buried ruins of two millennia of history, Leicester (les-ter) suffered at the hands of the Luftwaffe and postwar planners but an influx of textile workers from India and Pakistan from the 1960s transformed the city into a bustling multicultural hub.

The astonishing 2012 discovery and 2013 identification of the remains of King Richard III in a Leicester car park sparked a flurry of developments, including a spiffing visitor center on the site, and the restoration of the cathedral, where the king was reburied in 2015.

A Football attraction

One of the most popular spectator sports in Leicester is football. The best equipment in the city without a doubt is Leicester City FC, founded in 1884.
